Should You Can Your Beer? The Top Reasons Why You Should – and What to Expect

Posted on 2020-09-032021-03-11 By WebEditor No Comments on Should You Can Your Beer? The Top Reasons Why You Should – and What to Expect

The craft beer market has already made its mark as more and more consumers are looking for excellent-quality brews that are a step above the commercial beer found in most shops. When you have a beer canning facility, you may already have your share of regular and loyal customers, so you may also be considering various ways to expand and reach a broader market base. But if you are thinking of an expansion, you may have already heard about some benefits brought by canning your beer as opposed to bottling it.

While bottled beer can be quite attractive, there are some excellent merits to canning your beer as well. In fact, canning can actually make your beer taste better because there is less chance of contamination and your beer will be protected from sunlight and oxygen more than if it comes in bottles. But should you really can your beer? Here are the top reasons why you should – and what you can expect from it.

The top reasons why you should take advantage of beer canning

A lot of craft brewers have already switched to beer canning for several good reasons. And even if beer in bottles is often seen as a standard and more traditional than beer canning, canned beer has actually been around for a long time. You may, for instance,  be surprised to discover that beer canning dates back to the early part of the 20th century, and consumers began seeing beer in cans as far back as the 1900s. Large beer producers have already benefitted from beer canning for decades, and there really is no reason why you shouldn’t, either.

  • A fresh tast

If you are aiming for a good beer with a fresher taste, beer canning is your premium choice. Various materials can be used for beer canning, but aluminium is still the most popular as it has the reputation of preserving the fresh taste of beer in the best possible way. With your beer in cans, you can also sufficiently protect your brew against light and oxygen, which can significantly affect your beer’s taste. If your beer is in bottles, light can easily penetrate through the bottle even if your bottle is green or brown, and oxygen can infiltrate your beer through the lid of the bottle itself. But with cans, your beer is perfectly and completely sealed and protected.

  • Efficiency

With beer canning, you can also benefit from better efficiency in your production line. A good beer can seamer can handle a good number of products, therefore enhancing your production output, but more than this, cans are more lightweight compared to bottles, and you can conveniently stack them on top of each other. This allows you to store your beer in a more compact way, and, more importantly, it allows you to transport your product more safely and cost-effectively.

  • Sustainability

If your company is concerned about being sustainable and environmentally-friendly, then you can certainly benefit from beer canning rather than bottling. Cans are fully recyclable, and you can recycle them over and over again, and they are more compact and easier to recycle than bottles. The beer bottle, while also recyclable, takes more time to recycle, whereas, with a beer can, you can have a newly-recycled can in as little as 60 days.
